We’ve been phoning more lately so I’m forgetting writing. I was waiting for photos from Lucas’birthday but I’ve had no luck with that so I’ll skip ahead to Halloween. Or I could but we’ll be gone for Halloween. You’ve seen Miles’ costume already so you can get the idea. Peyton and Walker plan to be Indians or more politically correctly, native American. This gave me a perfect opportunity to bring out my Camp Fire Indian Dress and the wooden beads. Miles has also been interested in wearing the beads to school. I’m trying to make use of these things lying around in my basement. Do you still have your Camp Fire beads?

The Global Volunteers DVD has moved me to tears this afternoon. This organization makes an emotional appeal to old folks like us and it always turns out so well according to their propaganda. I’ll be glad when we are in the village and see what we get to do. I’m sure we’ll have a good time.

It was great showing you photos of Eddy Wohlcke and Hannah Schott and having you not recognize them. I doubt if anyone would recognize you either but it’s fun to see what happens. You are missing so much by not joining Facebook.

Origami is my idea of something to try with our students. I also found 100 classroom games we can use when we’re left wondering what to do. The children will be the most fun but we both like working with shovels, paint brushes and hammers so the vacation sounds much better than a cruise. Look for me in Amsterdam.

You would love this program since you are crazy about snakes. About 300 loudly talking, energetic elementary students suddenly turned silent when the reptile man showed his huge turtle, followed by increasingly huge, and dangerous snakes until he had used up his hour program. It helps the students learn not to be frightened of snakes and to treat them with care. He said if you're afraid of snakes you just need to hold one and you will no longer be frightened of them.

I thought of the herpetologist we met in Malaysia. They should know one another or maybe many people are interested in snakes. I know Lucas is a fan.
