Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Sunny Days

They are awaiting us in CA hopefully. I see the temperature is near 80 there. You won’t know what to do without a pile of snow in the front yard. Chicago has really had a rough winter lately. So far we have not had any February snow so I’m hoping Spring is not far away.

Jill did make an attempt to join us but wouldn’t listen to my plan of her flying while Ron drives. I think Ronnie still needs to get walking on his new hip. Anyway we have enough people to fill our rental so that should work out but not as well as if Jill were with us.

Claire and I drove to Cyd’s house last weekend to see the twins. They are into basketball now and spent the day in the garage shooting baskets. Peyton got new basketball shorts and he wore them for two days including the night between. Here’s their weekly intramural game. Watch number 5.

Lucas is practicing judo with his parents twice a week while Miles stays with Grandma. When he reaches his 8th year he can join the rest of the family. Of course, he doesn’t really want any part of judo as he is definitely going to be a ninja when he grows up. He is sort of practicing in this little video which appeared on a television short locally. It lasts an hour but you can just stop after Miles appears.(http://www.ksps.org/programming/ksps-productions/health-matters/vision-quest/)

So I must get going to my volunteer tutoring this afternoon. There are only three first graders and so far they haven’t managed to get the best of me. I’m taking Valentine reinforcers today so that might help keep things going my way.

I can’t wait to see your hairstyle without the pony tail. Be sure to identify yourself when you arrive. The header on this blog will need to be changed as now we are meeting more than once a year.
