Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Here I go again

Well, Uncle Ronnie is very bored and feels out of the loop at Lake Wenatchee so he actually prompted me to write here again. It’s either that or call him on the phone and then that takes hours sometimes but the gossip is well-worth the time spent. I’m sure he has some good stories of what went on while Jill and Pat were in Norway.

I guess one of the best days on our trip was meeting my grandfather’s cousins in Singsas, Norway. The relatives were so hospitable and spent about 10 hours with us. We could have visited for days I think and I still would not know how we are all related. One English speaking young cousin is keeping me informed via FB. I like keeping in contact with all of the Fjeseths or Forseths as some changed their name to get rid of that awful j in there perhaps.

We also stayed busy hiking once we got to Switzerland. There were 16 in our group and we ranged in age from 60-80. Anyway age didn’t make a difference as all could hike 8-10 miles each day on hilly terrain yet. Some of the trails were narrow on one side, with a steep slope but most were fairly wide and well traveled. The group was fun and we had good visits while we hiked and after we celebrated completing a hike. We were in three locations-Zermatt, Gandersteg, and Interlaken. My favorite was not Zermatt even though the Matterhorn was significant. I will put photos on my flickr site soon.

I guess I told you my basement flooded before I left so my carpet was removed while I was gone. I still have no new carpet but I think there may be some soon. It looks like a bomb shelter in my basement.

However the swimming pool started up again for its 35th year, living up to its promise of Lifetime longevity. Every year we surely think it will give up on us but the boys would be devastated as they rule that pool now.

Sorry Hank is still not getting better. I hope you still leave the air conditioning for your volunteer work. If you’d sign up for FB I wouldn’t need to read it to you over the phone. You know you want to hear what’s written there.
