Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

The Universe Writes to Me

Fact of the matter is everything is a non-issue, until someone decides otherwise.

And that means you can now chill.

I like that the Universe cares enough to send me email. I think Jane had something to do with it and she even gets a daily message but I only can do one weekly. So now I can write you a note as all the company is gone except the summer friends only a pool can attract in this hot weather.

The twins liked the water and were being very daring by the time their week stay ended. We stayed very busy with not only boys but two little girls too. This week there is baseball camp and before that it was Lego camp. My dental hygienist has a 4 year old son who has taken cooking camp, followed by tennis camp and music camp. I guess we missed out when we were youngsters in Warden as we had no training in any skills and had to devise our own tents out of blue blankets. What does a 4 year old do in cooking class?

The real reason I’ve been waiting so long to write is because we have emailed almost daily for the past two weeks so that leaves almost nothing to relate. It was interesting having the fraud alert put on our credit cards while we were making our airline reservations. I hope your card is now free and unencumbered. I believe mine is for the time being until I start using it in Malaysia.

Brett got a call recently from someone from Warden named Lynn Jackson. He gave them my phone number. Apparently his wife Martha is Earl and Ila Rogers’ daughter. They live near me and insisted I come to visit as their daughter was in town from Tennessee. It was crazy but I went along with it as they seemed to think it was so necessary. They wanted her to meet me since I had held her once or twice in Warden in 1949 when they lived there that one year. The daughter and I agreed it was a remembrance that wasn't very significant but Martha kept showing me her quilts and Lynn showed me his photos of Bill Rogers' anniversary. Marilyn, the daughter kept saying, she needs to go now mother as she has to babysit. It was true. Yes, I showed them the 1949 photos I had of that occasion and I will spare you as I’m sure you don’t see a connection.

Nancy’s visit sounds like it is jam-packed with activities. You have the Chicago tourist activities down pat. Did you get to visit with Ronna? Katie came swimming with McKenna and Jake the other day and Saturday Diana is coming with Charlie’s boys and we’ll celebrate Katie’s birthday. They are all good swimmers. I need this place ready for Diana.

We don’t need internal flights yet.
