Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

"No Freaking Way!"

This is not a polite way to reply to my suggestion for our joint trip. I guess because you are doing all the planning, calling, reserving, and charging you have the freedom to give your opinion but remember we have three weeks together and we have to use kind words with one another. Otherwise Nancy will never be sorry she didn’t come with us.

It is much work to set up at trip and cover all the details. I just know from the photos I’ve seen that it will all be worth it, no matter how many times my walking buddies ask, “Why are you doing this?” When they see us at the Sultan’s Palace in Brunei they’ll be amazed. That is if you aren’t held for bringing contraband into the country.

Summer is blazing right along here in Spokane. It means good swimming weather so all the boys are jumping off the board trying to imitate their father’s somersault from that height. Their dad will soon be 45 so he’d best be careful when diving.

Linda is coming for a visit today I think in an effort to help keep granddaughter, Esther entertained while she is babysitting her for a few days. She can pretend to swim in her life jacket.

I hope to visit the twins after that. Thanks so much for all the arrangements you’ve been making. I’m sure I won’t be critical of anything while we’re there.
I have malaria pills and cipro so I’m almost ready. What are you doing to keep cool in Chicago?
