Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Twin Time

This was started on Sunday when the twins were sleeping and so was their mom. We have had a busy week in hot weather. It takes the twins a few days to get adjusted to the different sleeping arrangements and the different boss for their day. Basically Peyton just tells me no, he likes his mom but not me. Walker tries to get on my side but only to be in charge of what I can and can’t do.

Here is darling Peyton getting his photo taken being cute which is then followed by a photo taken before this photo of Walker attempting to block my photographing his brother. Competing with a twin must be very trying but they keep at it though at times they band together to get the best of any adult trying to manage them.

Both take turns being frightened of different things. We went to a water park and both were scared to death of a huge bucket of water being periodically dumped on the top of them. They stayed far away from the menacing pail. At the Carousel Walker refused to ride even with his mom standing nearby. Peyton stayed away from the pool for 4 days and then consented to enter after a Batman toy bribe from his mom. He actually had fun eventually. Generally Walker is outgoing and likes to manipulate and organize items. Peyton wants new items including clothing and then plays with these things for a long time. Walker is the A twin and Peyton (B) often seeks permission from Walker before he does something. They are truly darling individuals and it is so interesting to see how different twins can be.

Miles and Lucas are put into the mix daily and then it is good to have at least four adults around to keep an eye on things. Lucas is a good swimmer, working on his dives, and Miles just started swimming with no life jacket, mainly due to the twins wearing life jackets I’m sure. It is all very easy when you can eat all your meals outside and play all day outside too. We have mainly stayed home and hung out. John and Katie hosted a huge 4th Block party but we didn’t have the stamina to get in the car for the ride to their home.

Now it is Monday and things are quiet around my house as everyone has gone. I’ve walked with the neighbors and since then spent 90 minutes on a phone call with Shizuo. His camera wasn’t working so I only had a blank screen and he had a wrinkled face on his computer. He’s posted new photos on his flickr site. Get ready for Jill and Jessica.
