Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Frommers vs Fodors

You have all details down for our trip but where did the idea that passwords could be longer than 4 digits come from? I suppose I just got a short password by mistake. I still have no clue as to my itinerary, extra excursions or dollars needed.

This past weekend was spent at Cyd’s with her twins and her guitar-crafting husband. Really he has made 3 or 4 beautiful guitars since the twins were born. It was a busy time but we did squeeze in daily walks for wearing down the boys followed by the Escape to Africa video. The animation does look so much like Kenya.

The twins are getting so grown up but they haven’t really grown much. They are very wise however and know pretty much how to run the house and especially the parents. Mostly they enjoy riding their bikes in the driveway.

After nine years without entering a classroom I was enticed to enter Lucas’ elementary school just to see how the school works. I’m only volunteering with slow readers in an after school program and the 8 year olds can give me a run for my money. In a few weeks I hope I memorize the teacher’s edition so I can stay in charge as I had to give in to Hector, the ring leader for my page turning instructions today. I know you think zoo animals make volunteering so much easier and you must be right.

Our snow is still covering everything in sight in my yard. I’m looking for the inflatable snowman and now have the canvas base spotted. About three more weeks of this weather should completely uncover the blow up snow creature and then I might just go ahead and plug him in for a few days since I didn’t really get to see much of it this winter.

Well, you can see I have nothing to write about and no raunchy statements to make so I should leave some interesting blog addresses where the authors say whatever they please as if no one they know is reading their most private thoughts. I'm sure you wouldn’t be interested anyway. Keep the Frommer’s information coming.

Um, i like what you write about. If you chose to be more raunchy, cool. I would dig it. But if not, that's cool too. Peace out.

I do get my share of rug rats at the Zoo to contend with especially nonstop in the spring when 100+ buses arrive in one day full of screaming kids!
The Shedd is good because I am behind the scenes and the animals are most grateful when I clean up their exhibits and give them food.
Three more weeks to Greece...hope the weather improves..OPA!

I have read that Greece's economy is failing a bit these days. Warren Buffet likes to say "When the tide goes out, you know who is swimming naked". People apply this to Madoff but also to Greece. They have always been the weakest economy on the Euro and now that their economy is tanking faster than the rest of Europe they wish they had their own currency to tinker with so their citizens could get relief. It looks like the riots in athens have subsided. The good thing with a tour is they avoid those things. I am sure there are no riots on Santorini. Are you going there? It is amazing. I really loved Greece when I went there in college.
