This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Memorial Day Group


I’ve been anxious to get this group photo but I don’t know why when you can’t see any of my family. I am proud of Cydney and her boys as they’ve been trained to sit still and smile around a camera but I think Brett and his family need work on posing. It could be that the matriarch is a poor role model as none of us are very visible with Anna Marie winning the prize for hiding.

How are Miles and Lucas ever going to bond with the extended family when they can’t visually refer to their place in it? Is there anything about the group photo that you like?

My child will not have this problem because he/she will have a grandmother who constantly says "look this way, smile!". You notice how photogenic Pat and I are. That is from years of training. My mother always said "I don't care if my kids are cute, they just have to be photogenic".
