Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Skipping a Day

I'm worried about being too boring so I have to build the anticipation by skipping a day or two here and there. Monday was not too interesting anyway, not that any day is all that action-packed. I accompanied Lucas and his parents to Costco while Lucas meandered down every aisle with me behind trying to keep up. He definitely has a mind of his own and only goes where and does what he decides. It makes for a quick Costco trip but he does anticipate a root beer and a pretzel after the checkout.

Kim and I finished up her stage backdrop and then went to see Hotel Rwanda. I was having a nice day until that experience. I couldn't stop watching but it was a movie that isn't uplifting.

Today was the senior fitness class followed by a haircut and then investment club after taking my mom to her lunch at the senior center. We have $2000 to spend but we've spent months rehashing a proper stock. I'm up for Microsoft but no one wants to make the big step. We are up 11% for the past three years. It makes me feel smarter just to throw around the stock terms like ticker and p/e ratio but I haven't a clue about what's going on with the stock market.

It's kind of like the income tax. The 13 classes I took did me no good and I'm ready to take everything to an accountant again. I've put everything on Turbotax and now I need to figure out what to do with a Schedule K which the investment group insists we need.

Lucas stopped by tonight to play with play dough and get a Nemo treat. Tomorrow he'll be here for dinner. I talked to my friend Linda today. She's having Spring Vacation and going to Palm Springs for the rest of the week. She thinks it is raining there.

Judy will be in Portland about 2 on Friday and we'll be there about 4. I hope to remember my camera so I can post our photos. There is a rehearsal dinner Friday night and we are all staying at the same hotel downtown. Nancy, Cyd, Leslie, Barb, Rachel and I are going to a spa place for various beauty treatments. Judy is going to the zoo as she's into seeing animal beauty. The wedding is at 6 p.m so after the festivities it will be early to bed and home the
next morning. Leslie is so thrilled about her big day.
