Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Leslie's Wedding

I am beginning to feel very anxious about not taking my mom to Leslie's wedding. Leslie is Alberta's brother's grand daughter and it only seems right that she go to the wedding. I said months ago that I would not take her so I bought one airline ticket with the idea that she would stay home. For the past week or so I've been dreading mentioning to my mom that I would be going to Portland. Today her conversation regarding a "growing" plastic plant helped me believe that she would enjoy staying home. She was pleased with all the new buds on the plant and when I told her it was plastic she said she was sure it was real because it had been changing so much. Later after an afternoon of Bridge and dinner with Brett, Anna Marie and Lucas she mentioned that she was all confused over the activities she attended today. Her day gets filled up when she is out and about for more than 4 hours. She looks so good and moves so well that it's hard to remember that she tires easily too.

I had fun today sewing ties for a large backdrop for my friend Kim's dance show she is producing in her spare time. Wednesday night is the big night and Kim has made all the outfits and the stage materials. She is a person who hates to have time on her hands. I can't figure her out but I guess she likes the stress of having something to do hanging over her head at all times. Tomorrow perhaps we'll finish up with the ties. I've been counting and we had more than 40 ties to hold the backdrop to the PVC pipe rack Kim built.

Desperate Housewives is on tonight if I can stay awake. Tyler, Dave's son, got another traffic ticket today. It is his fifth so far and, of course, this one was not his fault. However it does point out that his new car has good pick up.
