Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Claire's Birthday

Today Claire is 62 and it seems like we should be celebrating in some fashion. I phoned her this morning and got Raymond as she was at Rockwood Clinic getting medicine for her sinus cold. I know she will be getting her Social Security check anyday now so just having her own special stash to spend is a big birthday gift.

I think I will like blogging as I only will have to write this material on one email. It is very sunny today and it looks nice just sitting inside and seeing it.

I helped Arlene at Sacred Heart today and she assigned me one sixth grade boy who would not look at me or acknowledge me in anyway. He then got a 15 minutes time out so he could sit in a chair and kick the file cabinet. Finally he agreed to work with me. When I asked who is teacher was he answered that I was kind of nosey about things that were not my business. He let his papers fall on the floor and of course I picked them up. He started with the easiest paper first and did label the parts of the eye quickly. Then he chose a math paper and I timed how long it took him to do one row of fractions-14 seconds. He is not a slow learner. We had a good time when I discovered he liked to talk about computers and game boys. I wish I could remember the differences between x boxes, game boys, pokemon, and computer games. I do know that Halo1 is on the computer but so far Halo2 is not. I may go back a few more times. It is a disorganized, chaotic classroom just because of the age range and the different abilities in the room. I don't know how Arlene manages.

I took a nap when I got home. My mom is at Bridge. I'm heading to a Spinning class at 4:30.

I'll see if this makes it to the publishing segment.
