Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

Too Much Together Time

This is the reason I haven’t been writing much the past 3 months or so. Of course now that you look like such a different person I may not identify with the real you. It was great that we didn’t even recognize you at the airport.

Is your snow melting? We have patches of grass showing now and the streets are bare so I am back to walking in the a.m. just so I can listen to the daily gossip. There isn’t much really now that I’ve explained your recent life to them. (Really I just made that up-we have our own tales)

I see that Chicago now has a Cash Cab. I’d be kicked out after a few blocks but I like to watch it sometimes. Shizuo has a nice photo of his family on flickr.

Today I’m fixing the usual dinner for Brett’s family and Claire. I found Grandma’s recipe for Angel Food Cake and I just made something but I’m not certain it will turn out like hers. Mostly I’ve made a huge mess in the kitchen. It is my turn to host our little investment club so I have to make a dessert and this will be the trial run. Then I can always pick up a dessert at Safeway Thursday.

So you are off to Tanzania without me. How many safaris does this make for you? Linda has organized our trip to Zurich with stops in Norway and Sweden. I’m not sure how that will work out but yes, the exchange students CAN have visitors.

Have a wonderful time on your trip. You can text me on your new phone! Or take a photo and send it my way. I hope the guide knows more than you do about Africa but that would be difficult. Maybe OATs will offer you a position and you would be forever happy.
