Arla's Aimless Anecdotes

This is my attempt to write one occasional email to various people at one time. I specifically write with my cousin Judy in mind. Since we grew up together we agreed in our teens that we'd always try to keep in contact. This is a supplement to our twice yearly phone calls and our once yearly visit at our Johanson Family Memorial Day Reunion.

39th Annual Memorial Day Reunion

Thanks to Pat here we are so you can compare our early day photo in the profile with our current appearance. We are holding up but slowly wearing down also. This was taken on our first day there which is fortunate because at the end of the weekend everyone looked a lot worse.

It would be great to include an audio clip to show how hoarse you were from talking so much and from singing so loudly at the Johanson Idol karaoke. On the drive home I tried to make a list of the suggestions for next year:

No bunk beds.
Rooms just for people who snore.
Beach place only.
No outside bathrooms.
Place on the east side of the state.
Upscale place for our 40th reunion.
Someplace less expensive.
Someplace where it doesn’t rain.
Someplace where the little children can be safe to play.
Someplace with a large dining area for 50.
Someplace where dogs are allowed.

You've heard all these demands and threats but in the end it is always great to have everyone show up even though none of these conditions can be met. Surely we can make one more year.

My mom was happy to see me and we had a good visit. Lucas and Miles had company for dinner so I didn’t get to see them yet. Today I get to visit with Raymond while Claire gets her hair cut. Looks like I can pull some weeds outside here too.

Thanks for bringing the wine though you will need to revise your amount for next year. Hope you have a great day at the zoo today.

Nueva Entrada

This is my first attempt with a new entry in Spanish format. It will be short but
since Linda and Sara have now posted 92 photos I want their work to be viewed. Check http://thetembas.smugmug.com/ when you have lots of time to waste now that you're retired. The caption is world trip and then at the bottom of their travels you'll find Argentina. I am positive we will have 100's more in a few days. Today we visited a huge glacier since we are in Patagonia and near the end of the earth. It appears to be a mixture of the sagebrush near Vantage and Alaska. Very beautiful but I'm not sure what planet I'm on. Thanks for the brief email. I hope to see some of your new sculptures in Oz Park. Ciao.

Leaving

It is sort of a hassle to go away from home especially when the weather is in the 80's. Anyway I'm dressed and ready to go this morning and the twins are still sleeping. Cyd has them structured with good sleep habits.
Today I'm flying with Linda and we'll meet up with her daughter and son-in-law in Buenos Aires on Friday. Sara and her husband are finishing up their around the world tour with this last country. They have several websites http://thetembas.smugmug.com and http://www.travelpod.com/member/thetembas in case you're curious. They have many photos.

The Memorial Day Menu sheet was interesting. I was surprised to see Brett's family listed but they told me it was in error. Now they might be reconsidering. We can all be surprised. It looks like there will be a good turnout.

I also heard Nancy is getting a second dog. Boy I'm hard up for gossip today. I know you are retired officially but have you quit working on patterns yet?
